MQTT M2M protocol supported by Facebook

Facebook supports a M2M protocol MQTT for instant-messaging capabilities

The MQTT protocol was developed 10 years ago and is still not well known. MQTT has been developed as a joint project between IBM and an Italian company called Eurotech. MQTT is branded by high bandwidth efficiency and supports a wide range of wireless applications. It has been planned by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information) as an industry standard. MQTT is middleware between the publisher and the consumer.

MQTT at a glance

MQTT supports publishing and subscribing of messages. It provides one-to-many message sharing.  It is based on TCP/IP. MQTT has a small transport overhead and protocol exchanges reduced to decrease network traffic. The fixed-length header is 2 bytes only.

I am not the Oracle of Delphi, but the upper news is that what I have promised in an article written a few weeks ago. It will be published in a big German magazine for electronic soon. I have described how to use Twitter for M2M applications and also have planned to use Google+ Circles for my public and non public machines. My wish was an API to Google+. The public machine is a weather station already public at http://twitter.com/#!/M2Mapps and for an example of a non public machine I used  my washing machine. Anyhow, this is a short story for another blog post later on.

Do you have further questions and would like to start the development of your own M2M app feeding Twitter, Facebook or Google+ right now?
