Yuri, the proposal has several drawbacks:
– The other design offers no A-GPS. My design gets a fix within a second to other will search for a fix up to minutes. The battery can be smaller and lighter
– The sensitivity of SirfStar in the other design is worst in comparison to the GPS module in my concept
– With the free of charge A-GPS-server in my concept the sensitivity will move from acquisition to tracking. This is 17 to 18 dB more sensitivity!
– If you add to the 18 dB the 3 dB more sensitivity then it is already 21 db better!
– The other proposal has much more weight. For an eagle it is maybe ok. For falcons or even smaller birds not.
My concept was created to monitor birds of falconers. The birds shall come back daily. If they do not come back, then you start to follow. Real following makes sense in evening time and night only. At day time falcons can travel very long distance. You can not catch them, as long they are flighting. The same concept is in use to track oil on canvas or other expensive assets.
Nevertheless with my concept the proposal in the magazine can by lighter and much more sensitive.
