Router, nodes, … this came in today
“Harald, the term “router” you are using, would also mean WiFi Access Point , would it not?
and the topology here would be a star network, correct? with “router” as a star in this architecture.
there is no interconnection between “nodes” , correct”
Right now I am talking about different technologies to different people for different applications.
6LoWPAN
- IP riding on 868/915 MHz
- Meshed or star network or peer to peer
- Low power on battery
- Can be addressed by any IP based device like PC, laptop, PDA or smartphone on any operating system from any corner in the world
ANT+
- Proprietary protocol, popular in sport and medical apps
- Riding on 2400 MHz
- Meshed or star network or peer to peer
- Ultra Low power con cell battery
- Can be addressed by ANT+ in smartphones, dongle for iPhone, USB dongle, SD card or mini SD card
Bluetooth Low Energy
- Protocol of Bluetooth SIG, would like to be popular in sport and medical apps
- Riding on 2400 MHz
- Star network or peer to peer (no meshed network)
- Ultra Low power con cell battery
- Can be addressed by nothing for now, because there are no smartphone or laptops for now.
(Evaluation kits simulates the master = smartphone)
GPRS router
- Based on embedded Linux
- Quad band GPRS module
- 6LoWPAN link by UART or Ethernet (UART is the cheapest)
- Several UARTs, USB, I/Os, PWM …
Router / node
- GPRS router or router in 6LoWPAN or ANT+
- Node = 6LoWPAN or ANT+ or Bluetooth Low Energy
Thank you for the good writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it.
Look advanced to far added agreeable from you!
